Fun in the foyer

Since I am still trying to get the dining room cleaned up and decorated I thought that I would redo the foyer table.  It has been sitting there way too long with a Christmas tablecloth over it.  So I took a break from sorting out napkins and napkin rings and got this done.

Not too much changed here.  I added my new rooster in here since the other one is on the kitchen island for now.  I changed out the book and added the crackled glass container.

So here is the overall look with the mirror.

Now back to the dining room.  I also found out that we may not be getting our new living room furniture until the end of the month or even until the beginning of next month.  Oh well, at least it will give me more  time to get some  rooms done before it comes.

New furniture update

We went to look at the furniture today and I talked my hubby out of the big recliner.  You should have seen the one that he wanted.  It looked like it was made for a giant I kid you not.  When he sat in it his feet couldn't even touch the ground.  He looked like a baby sitting in a recliner.  We decided to get chairs with ottomans and a loveseat that matches.  They are out of stock right now but hopefully we can be getting them by the end of this week.  Here are the winners.  Sorry for the the pictures being blurry I took it off of the website and they look better smaller.

He decided that he liked the chair and ottoman that matched the loveseat.  This is the chair that I wanted for my sitting room so we ordered three of each.  I think that these will go well with my decor except for my curtains.  Right now this is what they look like.  Yes I have never gotten around to changing out these.  This fabric was in the kitchen and my sitting room.

It is not easy to get a good picture this time of day in my living room.  Here is a close up of the fabric.

Since our walls are a medium beige I think that I will have to find something with dark brown and gold.

New furniture

My hubby told me the other day that he wants to get new furniture for the family room.  When I heard this I got all excited.  I have never really liked the style of our current furniture.  I love my coffee table and end tables but I don't care for the couch, oversized chair and the loveseat that matches that I put in the sitting room.  So I am already thinking about what I want when he says to me that he wants two recliners instead of a couch and he still wanted to keep the oversized chair.  Boy did that burst my bubble.  I was already dreaming of some classy furniture instead of all the oversized stuff that we have been buying over the years.  To make a long story short I was able to get him to compromise.  I suggested that we get rid of all three pieces since they are a set and replace them with two recliners and a loveseat in the family room and then get a chair and ottoman for the sitting room.  He did agree but I could not believe what he wanted for the recliners.  Here is the furniture that I want for the rooms.

This is the loveseat that I want.  It has a matching recliner but he said it was uncomfortable.

I would be happy with either one of these recliners.

Here is the chair and ottoman that I want for my sitting room,

Now here are the recliners that he wants.  Either one would do for him but I don't like them.

They look bigger in real life then they do in the pictures.  I am sorry but I just can't get excited over these two.  We need to go to the bigger store since the store by our house didn't have the two recliners that I like on the sales floor.  I just hope that one of them will be comfortable enough or if they have more choices that will go with the loveseat.  I have always had to compromise on our family room furniture but this time I would like to have my way.

The view from my kitchen window

Who wouldn't love to have this view from their kitchen window?

Yeah, me too! Unfortunately this is not what I get to look at.  I found this on a google search from a realtor website.  Wouldn't this be great to look at everyday?   This is what I get to look at.  How many of you have a great view like I do?

If I am lucky I get to see the neighbors on their deck.  At least when the bushes have leaves I don't have to look at the air conditioner units.  I just thought I would do this post for fun.  Everyday when I look out this window I wish I had a better view.  I have always wanted to have a home on the lake. This window faces East so it would be great to see the sunrises.  I get to see just a little bit on the left side of their house.

Oh well, you can't blame me for dreaming.  I guess it could be worse.  I know that some houses are really close together and all that you can see is the house next door.  At least I can see some of the sky.

Little changes in the kitchen

Now that Christmas is over I am revamping my decor in the house. I am not one to stick to one area at a time so there are many projects taking place at the same time.  I already started with the dining room but only have the buffet finished.  Next area is the kitchen.  I have started with the kitchen island.

I am wanting to change out the decor on the shelves too.  This is what they look like now.

I really never have decorated my pot rack they way I would like to.  I kinda just threw a few items up there.  I am going to change this out too.  I will probably keep the rooster.

So right now this is my kitchen.

I may even change out the decor above the cabinets.   I don't know when I will get this all done but for now I want to concentrate on the island area.  I am hoping to get it done by this coming weekend.  I also want to finish the dining room by this weekend also.  At this moment I only have the buffet done.  I still need to freshen up the hutch and the table.

Is it Spring yet?

Yes I have Spring on my mind with all my magazines arriving showing flowers and snow in the forecast for tonight.  It makes me think of how I will do my front porch this year.  Here is what it looked like last year.

I will probably be using most of the same items with a few new additions.  I am thinking about adding more pink to the porch this year.

Here are some photos from a few magazines that are getting me in the mood.  From Victoria is this beautiful breakfast in bed. I love the bedding. I would love the be served breakfast in this bed.

Next is from Entertain Decorate Celebrate with these gorgeous pansies.  Makes me want to start digging in my garden.  However it is covered in about  8 inches of snow.  I will be lucky to see it by March.

The last photos are from Southern Lady.  Who wouldn't want to dine like this?  Is anyone else ready for Spring?

Getting organized update

Well I did it.  I managed to get all my plates onto the bookshelves.   I think that I will still make some curtains to cover the bottom two shelves.  I didn't have enough room for the tableclothes but I have another idea where I can put them.  Here is the before.

Now for the after.  I didn't have room for everything to come back but I will be using most of it somewhere else.

Like I said before this is my catch all room for all the items I use in decorating and of course where I blog as you can see the computer tower above.  Now onto the next room.
