8 ways to add Fall to your home

Fall is just around the corner and there are easy ways to add the color and warmth of Fall to your home.  Here are a few of the things that I like to use in my home.

No. 1 of course if pumpkins.  I like to use faux and real outside.

These are real pumpkins that I used in my wheel barrow.

These are faux pumpkins.  I drilled some holes by the stem and added pea gravel inside so they won't blow away.  Then I hot glued leaves to hide the holes.

No. 2 mums-  I like to use silk mums for all my decorating.  I like to have real ones planted in my garden.  My bird bath has faux mums up top and real ones are down below.

No.3 Leaves and berries

No. 4 Acorns-  I like to use real and faux. Below are real and I like to tuck these in with the leave and berries.

These I got from Pottery Barn.  They are pretty realistic.

No.5 Pinecones
I like to tuck these in with leave and berries also or just leave them in a container.

No. 6 Pillows- Solid color or print

No. 7 Throws/Wool Blankets

They look great piled up or with some pillows.

No. 8 Antlers-  I have faux and real.  This is a great candle holder for Fall or for a woodland theme.

These are real antlers tucked in some flowers.

These are just the few things that I like to use.  I also like to add mercury glass and colored beads.

Antlers and Hydrangeas

I got this little ottoman at Tuesday Morning a few weeks back and wasn't sure where I was going to use it.  I thought that it might look good with some Fall decor in it.  So out comes my antlers and hydrangeas.

The ottoman is made out of wood and has some metal overlay.  The top of the ottoman is covered with burlap. I just have it sitting in the formal living room right now until I find a spot for it.  I will probably put it in the family room.

Another persons trash is my treasure

As we were walking the dog the other day I noticed that someone had thrown out this big pot of mums.  The flowers are all spent but the stems are still green and it had lots of buds on it.  Of course I had to snatch it up.

After a nice drink of water and about 30 minutes of my time dead heading it now looks like this.

I can't stand to see perennials thrown away when they are perfectly good.  I did notice that the house has another one by their garage that still has a few flowers on it.  It will probably get thrown away too.  I will be snatching that one up also.  This beauty will get planted in the backyard next to the pond.

Fall front porch finally done

The front porch is done.  I think that I have put as much on there as I can.  I still have more decorating to do inside the house today.  It is hard to get pictures because of the columns so these are in sections.  Here is the right side of the front door.  All I had to do was finish decorating the bench.

Next is the area where the rocking chairs are.  They are over to the left of the front door.

On the table in between is a Pumpkin Spice drink.  I will be trying this tonight.

I added some fall leaves and flowers to my wicker plant stand.

Here is a long shot of the front porch from the corner.

Since this is a wrap around porch I still have the side and back area to finish.  Probably not today,  I think I will do some more decorating inside and watch the Bronco's game.

Pumpkins in the dining room

I felt like I needed a change in the dining room today.  So once I got done with cleaning the house I dove right into decorating.  The last theme was birds so now I am going with pumpkins.

I love these metal pumpkins and the matching leave that I found at Tuesday Morning.  They look great on the buffet.

Since they have a scroll pattern I used my pumpkin plates that I got at Pier 1.

Nothing fancy for the centerpiece.  I used a swag that I added some more pumpkins and flowers to.   I added two candlesticks on each side with some glass beads around them.

Now if I can just get the front porch done.  I plan on tackling the rest of the porch tomorrow after I get the yard work done.
