Christmas Mantel 2015

So this past weekend I was able to get the rest of my home decorated for Christmas.  It was a do or die mission for me.  I am usually not this late getting things done but when you work 6 days a week and had just moved into a new home in October I knew I wouldn't get as much done as I would want.  I am still trying to find things that I use at Christmas.  Next year I will be organized so I can go all out.  I only decorated the mantel in the family room and did manage to put up my skinny tree (which doesn't work in the new home) and my nativity scene.

This is the only picture I will show of my tree.  I had to slap it together pretty fast Sunday night so it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to.  Also it is much too small for the space.

Next year we plan to get a bigger tree that will go into the formal living room.  It is a two story room so we are thinking at least 9 1/2 foot tree will look nice.

Christmas dining room 2015

The dining room is done.  Since this room is small I was having a hard time figuring out how I was going to take pictures.  I ended up standing outside on the porch steps to take pictures of the table.

I decorated just the top of the buffet since you can't see the lower part because of the table.

I thought I would just add a few touches of Christmas to the corner cabinet instead of taking everything off and putting Christmas decor on it.  Next year I will have more time to decorate.

Christmas kitchen 2015

Ivy and ElephantsThis past weekend I finally completed my Christmas decorating.  Here is what I did in the kitchen.  I decided to do a red, green, white and black theme this year.

Here are some close ups of the plates.  They each have a different saying.

I have a bench in the corner of the breakfast nook.  I thought this lantern would look cute there.  This was an after thought after I got the tablescape done.

I only decorated one corner of the kitchen island.  This island is smaller than the one in my previous home and I still need it to be functional.

Thank you for stopping by and Merry Christmas!

Christmas hutch 2015

Today I am full swing Christmas decorating.  It is do or die time.  I have the hutch done but still need to get the dining room done.  I finished the kitchen this morning and I will be decorating the family room and tree once the dining room is done.

I thought it would look nice just having a little bit of greenery and berries mainly.

I added just a few touches inside the doors.

Now I need to get busy on the dining room.  We went to the party across the street last night and I was amazed.  I was only expecting some drinks and appetizers but to my surprise there was also a buffet.  She also had some of the high school kids from the chorus sing Christmas songs.  She just recently had a massive deck put on that is enclosed with glass and as we were leaving to walk back to our house there was a carriage with horses to give people rides later on.

After seeing her home I told my hubby we need to remodel.  I told him that now I want to gut my kitchen instead of just tweaking it.  I would also like to add crown molding throughout the house.  Not sure if he will agree to any of this.

Outdoor Christmas lights

So with being moved in about two months I was thinking how proud I was that I got some Christmas decorating done.  The hubby even hung the wreath outside and even put up some Christmas lights on the spruce by the house.  He said next year we will do more of the trees.  So here is how it turned out.

Like I said I was so proud of what little we got done.  Then I take a look at the house across the street.

I don't think that I could ever compete with this.  A couple of our evergreen trees are covering up some of her trees so you can't see the whole effect.   She is having a Christmas party tonight and we are invited.  I can't wait to see how the inside looks.

Nutcracker staircase

Tonight after work I got busy decorating the rest of the foyer and the staircase area.  I thought that this area was a good place for some of my nutcrackers.   These pictures are taken at night so the colors are a little dark.

Here is a picture of the bottom of the stairs from the front door.

It's not easy getting a good picture when you don't have lots of room.  Here is a close up of the right nutcracker by the basement stairs.

This is the view when you come down the stairs.

And now the close ups.

I love the color that my walls look in the pictures.  They are actually a pinkish beige color.  I am wanting to repaint so this might me an option.  Now I just have the dining room, kitchen and family room to go.

Christmas front porch 2015

Well finally I got the front porch decorated today.  I still need to work on the inside of the house but at least the outside is done.  Next year I will be more organized and will do more decorating on all the other porches that I have.

I tried to hide the large urn in the corner but it is still peeking through the chair.  The old home owners didn't want it and my hubby liked it so we bought it from them.  I am not sure what I am going to do with it yet.

Here is the sitting area on the left side of the door.

Here are some close ups of the swags that I made to go under the porch lights and the window areas of the door.

Now onto decorating the inside.  Next year I would like to put some lights on the front porch.  I just don't have time this year to figure out what I want to do.
