Dining room is done for now

I have been working on many projects in our new home that are not quite finished yet.  I have managed to get the dining room done (at least for now).  I am still going to change out the cornice board with a different fabric and maybe hang something on each side the mirror. I didn't get the tablescape done yet but hopefully I will get it done before Thanksgiving.

Here is a close up of the buffet.

Here is the close up of the corner cabinet.

I was not able to fit the hutch in the dining room.  I would fit but it had to be on the same wall as the buffet and it looked too crowded.   I only have one wall in this dining room.  There is a wall next to dining room for the formal living so I set it there.

Here is the before picture.  I did take down the panels and painted the room.  It had a faux finish which I didn't really care for.

Feels like Fall today

We are having a cold and rainy day today here in Colorado.  Here are a couple of pictures from my deck today.  You can't see much of the foothills because of the fog.

Projects in the new home and new blog name

I thought I would share some pictures of my projects in our new home.  I am still unpacking and trying to figure out where to put stuff.    I decided to change my blog name just a bit as the neighborhood we moved to is called The North Ranch.  I love the sign they have here when you enter the area.

This is what we get in our yard a lot.

Here is my first project, the laundry room.  I will be painting the cabinets plus installing a new sink, counter top and light. This room is much smaller than my last one.

The reason for the white above the cabinets is the previous owners raised the cabinets and we lowered them so I can reach the bottom shelf.

I have a lot of painting to do but it will have to wait until after we move in.  My goal was to get the master bedroom, laundry room and my hubby's office painted before we move in but I just didn't have the time.

The dining room is the next room to be painted.  I will also be changing out the curtains down the road.  For now they have been taken down.  I will re-cover the cornice board and add new panels.

Fall front door

I come home in the afternoon to let my dog out so I thought I would take a little time to decorate.  Ok I know that I should be working on the inside of the house but I am about to burst if I don't get some kind of Fall decor going on the front porch.  Since I don't have much time I concentrated on the front door area only.

I made the topiaries myself with faux pumpkins from Hobby Lobby and I got the urns at Home Depot.  They were white so I painted them black.  The wreath is from Goodwill and it originally had green apples and berries.  They are still there underneath the fall picks and bow that I added.

Well that was all I could get done today.  If I didn't need to get back to work I would have added some of my faux pumpkins and mums.   Maybe another day.

Moving is hectic

We moved into our new home this past weekend.  I normally wouldn't share these pictures with anyone but am I the only one that has this mess when moving?

I couldn't bring myself to show anymore rooms that are a mess (which is about every room).    This is the formal living room area which I don't know what I am going to put in here yet so it is now the catch all room.  It will be awhile before I will posting again.  I am hoping to most of this done (except the basement) within a few weeks if all goes well.

First day of Fall

The first day of Fall has finally arrived.  Fall is my favorite season with the changing of the leaves and the cooler weather.  I am ready to get out my long sleeve shirts and boots.  Tomorrow we will be closing on our new home.  We won't be moving until October 3rd so we can get the carpets cleaned and I can move some of our stuff over.  I am hoping to get organized in the kitchen before we move in.

I am ready to enjoy my new backyard this Fall.  I can't wait to use the fire pit.

I am going to have to get some marshmallows to toast.  I am not sure what kind of seating I want to use around this yet.  These are the current homeowner's chairs.

Fall bench

I just couldn't take it anymore.  I had to do some Fall decorating before me move.  Normally I would have started on the inside by now but I will have to wait until we get settled into the new home.  Since I haven't started packing yet I thought that I would at least decorate my bench on the front porch.

I thought I would keep it simple and not decorate around the bench since I will be moving this soon anyway.  We will be having the appraisal done on our current home Monday so that night I can start packing.  I will be lucky to get all my breakables packed and moved over to the new house before we have movers come.  I like to move my own items that are breakable as I have had things broken before.  This will be a chore as I have a lot more breakables since we moved here.
