Christmas home tour 2014

I am happy to be a part of the "Christmas in the Country" Home Tour and Link Party 2014!  I am one of over 40 decorated homes participating in this two week event from November 28th till December 12th.  Please visit Creative Country Mom's to see all the new stops on the tour each day.  There is also a Holiday themed link party for the event where everyone can add thier posts!  Let's enjoy a homespun, Country Christmas at www.creativecountrymom.blogspot.com!

Welcome to my home.  The first area that you are greeted by is my front porch.  I did a little woodland/plaid theme this year.  To me nothing says Christmas like plaid.

As you walk in the door the next thing to see is my grandmother's hall tree.  I love to decorate it for the seasons however we use it everyday so it only stays decorated for a short time.

To the left of the foyer is a small area by the powder room that I decorated with my little nutcracker collection that I have started.

Now onto the dining room.  I decided to decorate it this year with what I call a rustic glam theme.  I put together some glitter and some natural elements.

The next stop is my kitchen.  Right now the table is decorated with poinsettias and plaid.  I will be changing it out every few days.

To the left of kitchen is the family room.  I did  a little bit more of a whimsical theme here.

Last but not least is the sitting room that is on the other side of the fireplace wall.  I love having a two sided fireplace.  It is decorated with a woodland theme.

Well that's it for my house this Christmas.  I hope that you enjoyed seeing it and please  make sure to visit all the other homes on this tour.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!!

Nutcracker corner

I have a small collection of nutcrackers and thought that I would group them together on the foyer table.  The tallest ones are 3 feet but I would still like to have a couple of the 6 foot ones that Sam's Club is selling. I kept the decor simple here with a tablecloth, greenery and ornaments.  You only notice this area if you are heading to the powder room as it is to the left of the foyer.

Poinsettias and plaid kitchen Christmas decor

So today after work I got the rest of the kitchen decorated.  I will still be doing a few different kitchen tablescapes so be sure to check back for those posts.  I am keeping it simple in here as I still have the dining room, family room, foyer and the basement room to finish this weekend.  I will be working on the dining room tonight.

Now for the pictures.

I only added two santas and some greenery for the shelves.  Here is the close up.  I had to use a flash to get a better picture so the color is a little off.

I was concentrating more on the top of the island instead of the shelves today.  I even dressed up the utensil holder with an extra plaid napkin to tie in.

I had a bunch of tiny cookie cutters that I used in my crafting so I put them on the tree.  I used my red colander to put the tree in.  It is a little bit hard to see in the pictures.  If you look close you can see it.

Just a few touches for the counter top.

The topiaries by the sink got dressed up a bit too.

And of course the kitchen table still looks like this for the moment.  I will be changing it out in the next few days.

Poinsettias and plaid kitchen tablescape

Here is the first of my kitchen tablescapes that I will be doing this season.  Here are my new poinsettia plates that I purchased recently.

I bought two different sets of poinsettia plates and have used them together.  I started out with a wooden white charger, one of the square poinsettia dinner plate, a green plate and finally one of the round poinsettia salad plates.

This is what the square plate looks like that is underneath the green plate.  You can't see much of it with these layers so I will be another place setting with the square salad plate.

I will be doing a Christmas Home Tour and the 8th so please be sure to check back to see the rest of my home.

Christmas plaids on the front porch

Welcome to my front porch.  Can you  believe that it only took me two hours to get this done.  It probably took so long since it was 20 degrees out when I decided to tackle the porch.  What can I say, call me crazy but I only have Sundays to work outside and of course it had to be cold.
I love plaids so I thought that I would continue with the woodland theme for the front porch as I did in the sitting room.  I love this pillow that I got at Home Goods.   I wish they had more than one.

I also got these pillow there (at least they had more than one).

I always have a hard time decorating around my front door.  No one can see it from the street since you enter the porch from the side and of course it is difficult to take good pictures as the railing is in my way.

So here is what you see when you walk up to the porch.

I  thought I would try and get some night time pictures with the lanterns and some candle light.
